Könyv, mint tárgy
Hogyan nézne ki egy könyv, hogyha a tartalma már a formájából dekódolható lenne? Meddig értelmezhető könyvként, hogyha elrugaszkodunk a megszokott formátumtól, elhagyjuk a címet, a lapozhatóságot, fejezeteket? Erre a kísérletre a választásom egy jubileumi könyvre,
a telefonkönyvre esett.
A legrégebbi fennmaradt budapesti névsort (a telefonkönyv előfutárát) 1882. február 1-én adták ki, az utolsó telefonkönyvet pedig 140 évvel később, 2022-ben nyomtatták. 2023-ra megszűnt a kötelező nyomtatott telefonkönyvek kiadása.
A könyv (tárgy) ezt a 140 évet foglalja magába. Formájában megidézi a fát, (a kivágott farönköt), a papírkészítés alapanyagát és 140 évnyi tárcsázást. Mérete és súlya magában hordoz 140 évnyi adathalmazt, neveket, címeket, telefonszámokat.
A tárgy oldalán (címként) helyett kapott a jubileumi évszám saját tervezésű stencilkarakterekből.

Book as an object
What would a book look like if its contents could be decoded from its form? To what extent can it be interpreted as a book if we depart from the usual format, abandoning the title, the page turning, the chapters?
For this experiment I chose a jubilee book, the telephone directory.
The oldest surviving Budapest directory (the forerunner of the telephone directory) was published on 1 February 1882, and the last telephone directory was printed 140 years later, in 2022. By 2023, the compulsory publication of printed telephone directories will be abolished.
The book (object) covers these 140 years. In its form, it evokes wood (the felled log), the raw material for paper making and 140 years of dialling. In size and weight, it holds 140 years of data, names, addresses and telephone numbers.
The side of the object (as an address) has been replaced by the anniversary year in stencil characters of its own design.
